In the words of the immortal Baldric: "I have a cunning plan!"

I will take the elastic out of Kyra's skirt, because it isn't sewn up and she's not using it right now, (sorry Kyra) and use it for my wings! Ahahaha! It's so simple! Aaaaahahaha!!!

Ahem. I will of course write down the measurement for Kyra's waistband and replace it when Jo-Annes gets more elastic in stock.

Holy crap, am I really leaving in 13 hours? I got stuff to do! O.O

Oh Hai!

Just a quick post to announce that I've found the USB cord (hurrah!) I'd post a picture of Skeeve's completed wings but either or The Internet is being mean. That's ok though. These wings were made with love...and also hate. Lots and lots of artistically frustrated hate. But don't worry, you'll be seeing a lot more faerie wings soon. Now if I can just find the elastic I need for my wings we'll be in business. Let's see, tomorrow I have to:

Get an adjustment (chiropractor)
Wash the car
Get nails done
Get elastic for wings
Finish wings
Embellish tribal dance bra
Make armwarmers

Why do I feel like one or two of those are not going to get accomplished? o.O

Moar Pictures

Ok for those who are curious here's a sneak peek at my new set of wings. Yes, of course Skeeve and I will both be photographed with our wings in full costume. I made most of the clothing after all.

Sorry for the crappy lighting. This picture was once again taken using the built in camera on my computer as I still haven't found the USB cord :( I have to pack tomorrow though so no worries. I'll just tear my room apart until find it. I know it's here somewhere...hiding in the corner...mocking me.

I should take a break and feed Pearl though. She just invited herself into my room to tell me that she's hungry. She does that a lot. After that, back to painting!

I am going to be so sick of bells when this trip is over...

All right. So, Skeeve's wings are basically painted. I'll probably put some final touches on them in the morning before I go to Michael's for more paint and flowers for the back of the wings. I took some pictures but unfortunately I can't upload them just now as I can't remember where I left the USB cord for my camera. In the meantime here's a crappy picture taken with the built in camera on my computer. It'll look better once the ribbons and bells are on. I promise.

I sat down and started making a list of all the garb and other essentials I need to pack for Oregon and came to the realization that I have a lot of stuff. The fun part will be hunting everything down and packing it all while maintaining the 50lb wait limit.

Oh my. Is that the sun coming up outside? I should go to bed now, shouldn't I?

Look, Ma! I made a blog!

Hi folks. This is the place to read about Faerieworlds, the trip to Oregon, and other adventures from the travel log of The Blue Selkie.

What's that you say? "What the heck is The Blue Selkie?" The Blue Selkie is the name of my trusty ship (i.e. 2005 Ford Focus) and this blog was created to chronicle the many misadventures that happen when we're out to sea.

Technically this particular journey is a cheat since we're not getting to Oregon by way of The Selkie for a couple of reasons. One being the price of gas, another being a lack of alternate drivers. Since I'm not willing to drive to Oregon without a crew Skeeve and I will be taking the plane. We're scheduled to leave Thursday July 31st from LAX at 9:00am and arrive in Eugene at 11:00am. The countdown begins now with only four more days to go.

By the way, this here is Timmy. Say hello Timmy. Timmy was a gift from Skeeve for my 21st birthday. He is now my unofficial mascot and assistant blogger. He is also a hedgehog in case you were wondering. Timmy and his buddy Jeb will be joining us at Faerieworlds. If we're really lucky we'll get Brian Froud to take a picture with him.

So that's that. Stay tuned for progress reports on sewing and craft projects for the festival as well as updates on pre-trip madness. There will be much running around in circles before this is all over.
